A wart is a raised growth on the skin caused by a variety of viruses. It's a small, firm and round tumor kind of skin, which can develop on any of the area on the skin. Wart is the commonly used name of it. The technical name is Verruca Vulgaris. Warts have a wide variety, which are names by their appearance or location on the skin. Warts get raised on the any part of the body.
They can grow on the genitals, neck, inside the mouth, inside the creases of the skin and on the rectal area. Warts have no roots, they grow on the surface of the skin, which is smooth, and when they grow down they displace the second layer of the skin that is known as dermis. As some infected viruses cause warts, there are almost 60 types of viruses to cause warts.
These viruses are known as HPV viruses. Some people are more prone to get warts on their skin whereas some are naturally resistant to warts. They don't get warts as easily as many other people. Warts are contagious and others can get them with the usage of towels, napkins or other stuff of the person who already has warts on the skin. Warts do occur in all age group of people but they usually affect adults especially in middle when the level of cholesterol rises in the body.
Warts get spread through the direct touch of the them. If someone touches someone else's wart without using gloves or something with naked hand then that person has strong chances of developing warts in his body. All warts have different life spa. Some warts resolve in weeks or months and some might take years. The time they take for its resolution is variable. Even if you are on some medication or treatment to remove warts, all of them will not resolve together. Some might go soon and some might take lots of time. It depends on one's immune system and the severity of the warts. People who have immune related disorders take more time in resolving their warts.
Warts are described by three specific types depending on their size and the place they appear which are planter's warts, genitals warts and flat warts.
Plan tar's Warts-plan tar's warts grow on the sole, heel and ball of the feet. They are the benign growth on the skin which is non cancerous. When there is more pressure on the foot because of standing for long time, walking or standing these warts go deep in the skin and then the resolution takes lots of time for them to leave the skin surface. Many times these human papilloma virus (HPV) dies within a year or two and leave the skin without any treatment for them. It is believed that plan tar's warts do affect young adults and children than others, which come between the age group of 12-18. This unwanted skin growth have strong chances to grow with people who share common bathing area and accessories as in the gym or healhclub where same things have been used by many people.
Genital Warts-- genital warts are usually in light pink or beige color and are found in both male and females in their genital area and anal region. They can appear at any age from young kids to grown up adults. They are usually sexually transmitted in the adults and kids have strong chances of facing sexual abuse if they develop them in their genitals. Genital warts are the most contagious warts and even just one single sexual contact with the person who has genital warts can give you this infection. It's always a risk because genital warts are mostly not obvious to others. Having protected sex is the best way to protect you from getting genital warts. Many times the person who has the genital warts cannot realize them and can pass them to others by unprotected intercourse.
Flat Warts-flat warts mostly affect children. They are smaller and smoother than the plan tar's warts and genital warts and usually the size is almost a pinhead. They are usually spread in a large amount on the skin as from 20 to 100. They cover the entire area of the skin as they might develop on all over the hand covering a big area of the skin. Darker people have them in dark color and people with light skin tone have them in light color as beige or skin color. They can appear on the face, arms, and knees or on hands. Many times they develop like clusters on the skin and look dirty. They have shapes as round, oval and are sharply defined. These warts hurt and pinch most of the times and look disfigured. They can be embarrassing when spread on face or arms and are quite visible. As these warts are in a large number on the skin, they leave marks on the skin when removed and have strong chances to reappear on the same region of the skin.
One should take the advice of a dermatologist to know about the type of warts one has. A dermatologist can rightly guide you which treatment you require for your warts and how you are going to remove them from your skin in the best way.
