Prevention and Treatment for Cellulites

Cellulite is a skin infection. It is underlying skin tissues that can affect any part of the body. It usually occurs because of some cut, scratch or broken skin getting bacteria infection which causes pain, inflammation, swelling, heat and redness on the affected area.

This bacterial infection can occur on many body parts as legs, face, arms or foot. Often it's a complication appears from an insect bite, cut or punctured wound. Such conditions allow the bacteria to enter the skin such as severe acne. Kids are more prone to get this skin problem as they tend to get more cuts and bruises which if ignored have strong chances to get the infection.

Other causes of cellulites are chickenpox, scratched insect bites, animal bites (dogs, pigs or monkey) and punctured wounds. Kids have a habit of scratching the bruises and wounds, which allow the bacteria's to get an easy chance to affect the skin. People who are diabetic have strong chances of getting cellulites because the healing system if their body decreases plus their immune system is not that affective. People who take some medication, which suppresses their immune system, too have strong chances of getting this infection.

Symptoms of cellulites--

this infection starts with a small, inflamed painful area. It has swelling, heat and redness and is real painful for kids. This affected area of the skin spreads in the kids, which can cause fever or chills in kids many times. Cellulites are not a contagious infection. Some swollen glands are sometimes found near the skin, which is infected by the cellulite. It the infection is severe it even causes vomiting in some patients. People whose facial skin is infected by cellulite have different and more severe symptoms than the common symptoms of cellulite.

The period of cellulites is different depending on the severity of the infection in a person. Doctor can diagnose cellulites by asking the patient certain questions and by examining the infected skin. Kids might require the blood test to examine the bacteria growth in their body. If the blood test is positive it shows that the infection has reached to the bloodstream from the skin and is called bactericidal. It's a serious condition, which needs special medical observation because if the infection reaches the bloodstream, it can affect the many other organs of the body.

How can prevention be taken

protect the kids from getting bruises or cuts and don't ignore their wounds as kids have stringer chances to get infected by cellulites. If your kids are in sports or outdoor activities then make them wear the right equipments during their play or activity. Always wash the wound or cut with soap water or antiseptic lotion. Apply adhesive bandage or gauge on the cut or wound. If the cut is really deep then seek the doctor. You or the kid might need stitches on it. Always keep the wound clean and seek a doctor's advice if it's an insect bite or animal bite before the situation goes out of control.

Treatment for cellulites

severe cellulites can be treated only in the hospital in a doctor's observation through some intravenous antibiotics. Kids with minor infection can be treated at home with antibiotics. Pain relievers can be given to relieve the pain and reduce the discomfort. Doctors do suggest that the affected part of the body should be immobilized and elevated to reduce the pain and discomfort of the infection. Dose of the medication and treatment depends on the severity of the infection.

If the other symptoms of the infection such as fever or vomiting are already there then its time to go to the doctor instantly. It can damage the other body organs if ignored. Any time doctor needs to examine the cut or wound if there is lots of pain. Facial cellulites need more aggressive treatment and medical care. If it affects the eyes, it can even damage the vision, as eyes are one of the most tender body organs. And if the patient is diabetic or something then the healing can take longer and can have serious affects.
