Vitamins and Mineral Supplements That Can Make Your Skin Beautiful

Vitamins and Minerals That Can Make Your Skin Beautiful:

Vitamins and minerals play a very vital role as far as our health and beauty is concerned. Our health is reflected through our face. So if our body is not getting the required nutrients then obviously we are not going to look fresh and healthy. The saying is very right that “you are what you eat”. So eating a healthy balanced diet leads to a healthy beautiful you. What ever you eat it should have a balanced nutritional value.

We all want to look beautiful. A beautiful face demands a healthy glowing skin. No matter what complexion you have, if you have a healthy attractive skin you will always look beautiful and appealing. At present vitamin supplements are available in the market in three forms. Liquid, tablet and capsule form.

It’s best to take all those vitamins and minerals in their original and natural form. Synthetic vitamin supplements are meant for those people who are unable to digest or absorb the vitamins in their original form. Vitamins and supplements are a good alternative to those that do not get the proper nutrients in their food everyday. Or some times people who are more deficient in certain vitamins and minerals need to take extra dose. Like for example women who are pregnant are advised to take folic acid during their first trimester. As in that specific period they are in need of an extra dose of folic acid which is compensated by giving in a specific daily dose. Then through out their rest of the pregnancy they are given different other vitamin supplements according to their different needs or deficiencies.

Therefore it is recommended that a healthy normal person should eat a balanced diet that contains all the essential nutrients. If we want to have a flawless skin we need to eat healthy and nutritional food. If you are healthy from the inside you will definitely look beautiful from the outside. Here I am going to discuss a few of the essential vitamin and mineral supplements that are not only good for your health but also good for your skin.

Vitamin A:  This fat-soluble vitamin is essential for the maintenance and healing of epithelial tissues, with skin being the largest expanse of epithelial tissue you've got. Best sources Egg yolks, oysters and nonfat milk. You can also get vitamin A from foods rich in beta carotene, which the body can convert into vitamin A.

Beta carotene: German researchers found that as little as 30 milligrams a day (the equivalent of 11/2 cups of cooked carrots) can help prevent/reduce the redness and inflammation associated with sunburn. Beta carotene accumulates in the skin, providing 24-hour protection against sun damage. Also, when combined with vitamin E, other carotenoids (cousins to beta carotene) like lutein seem to reduce redness associated with sunburn and reduce skin sensitivity to sunlight. Best sources Dark-colored produce, such as carrots, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, watermelon, papaya, broccoli and spinach.

B vitamins:  Vitamin B help convent calories into energy for skirt metabolism and are components of enzymes that maintain normal skin function (including functioning of the oil-producing glands which keep skin moist and smooth) that’s why poor intake of almost any B vitamin can cause dry or scaly skin. Best sources Poultry, red meat, fish, bananas temper whole grains, brewers yeast peanut butter and eggs.

Vitamin C:  When taken internally this vitamin helps maintain collagen -- the underlying supporting structure of skin. But sun exposure (and stress) can drain vitamin C from the skin, leaving it vulnerable to damage from the environment (why anti- aging creams and sunscreens have been infused with this potent antioxidant). Best sources Citrus fruits and juices, slow cantaloupe, strawberries, tomato sweet peppers and green peas.

Vitamin E: This antioxidant help slow the aging of skin cells by reducing the production of an enzyme called collagenase, which breaks down collagen, causing the skin to sag and wrinkle according to a study in the journal Free Radical Biology & Medicine. And sun exposure can deplete vitamin E from the skin, making it more vulnerable to sun damage (that’s why vitamin E is found in skin-care products from moisturizers to body washes). Best sources Salmon, legumes, extra lean meat, almonds, leafy vegetables, and olive and sesame oils.

Selenium: The damaging effects of ultraviolet light are minimized by this antioxidant mineral, thereby reducing your risk for sunburn. In fact, low blood levels of selenium also increase your risk for skin cancer. Best sources Tuna, wheat germ, sesame seeds and whole grains.

Zinc: This trace mineral helps maintain collagen and elastin fibers that give skin its firmness, helping to prevent sagging and wrinkles. It also links together amino acids that are needed for the formation of collagen -- essential in wound healing. Best sources Seafood, turkey, pork, soybeans and mushrooms.

Fish and Flaxseed oils:  Fish and flaxseed oils can help us to moisturize our skin. How? They contain essential fatty acids. When we take these acids orally they travel to our skin cells and can even act as a barrier against the environment. Your skin will start to become more moisturized and less dry within six weeks of taking fish or flaxseed oil capsules. Your hair and fingernails may benefit as well.

Biotin: Many people suffer from weak fingernails and brittle hair. Biotin is a wonderful supplement that can give both your hair and fingernails more strength. Biotin can also help you to grow out your nails and hair. Biotin can be found in such foods as corn, soy, egg yolk and walnuts. As a supplement, you can buy biotin separately or you can find it in many multi-vitamins.

Note: Do not take any vitamin/mineral supplement on your own. Do consult your doctor before taking any supplement.

Skin Care Tips to Make Skin Beautiful

Men are now warming up to the idea of taking proper cares of their skin and grooming their looks, which was a distant thought some time ago. Skin care for men is growing in popularity among ethnic men as well. The first thing anyone notices is the face, be it a man or a woman. Healthy skin is the most important element of a great looking face.

Here we discuss some basic tips and guidelines to encourage healthier skin.

Cleansing your face:

Men have approximately 15% oilier skin and significantly larger pores than women do. Basically, this means they get dirtier. It is very important; no matter what skin type they have, to clean the face every day. Deep cleansing is important. It keeps pores clear, skin healthy and you looking good.

Cleansing products should be as chemical-free as possible. Deodorant soaps shouldn't be used on the face. They cleanse with harsh ingredients and leave a detergent film behind. This may irritate the skin and will clog your pores. Go natural.

Soap strips your skin of natural oils, and your glands react by producing even more oil. Try a gentle foaming cleanser or milk cleanser if this problem is mild. If you need something stronger you could always try a cleanser or spot treatment with salicylic acid and beta hydroxyl.

A good scrub is essential for healthy clean skin. It will remove dead cells and smooth the surface of the face. The scrub should be strong without being damaging. Stay away from scrubs that contain rough elements like ground bits of nut or seed extracts. They will tear and damage the skin. A good scrub will invigorate the skin, not hurt it.

Moisturize it:

Moisturizing is a necessity. Again, the product with the least amount of chemical additives is the best. Always use a light moisturizer on the face after cleansing and shaving and don't forget the neck!

For an intensive moisture treatment, men can use pure vitamin E, or aloe Vera oil. It is available in liquid form, or just break open a capsule and apply the oil directly to the skin. This is a great under eye treatment. Remember it is very important to moisturize this sensitive area of the face. It is one of the first places to show age because the under eye skin secretes no necessary oils on its own.

Keep your skin toned:

Environmental debris and pollutants are more a factor to the men's skin's health. Toning helps keep the skin clear and firm. As skin ages, it needs to work harder to maintain its elasticity. Astringents and toners with glycolic or alpha hydroxyl acids work the best for toning the face. These acids actually can reduce the pore size, and help avoid ingrown hairs. They are aggressive and have quick results. Remember to look for a product that is not photosensitive (sensitive to light).

Treating the skin:

Depending on your skin type (oily, dry or combination) and the time of year, there are different products that treat and enhance your skin. Different treatments will have very different results. It is important to know the skin's needs.

All types of skin need to be exfoliated. This is the removal of dead skin cells that form daily. This is an essential part of skin treatment. After shaving, moisturizing the skin with a product that has absolutely no alcohol in it is important. Avoiding heavy fragrant after-shave products is good as they can irritate the skin.

Skin that is too shiny doesn't look healthy, just greasy. Blot the excess oils away. Blotting papers or a light powder that will give the skin a more natural finish, are both good options to try.

Don't forget about the lips. Find a balm that has an SPF of at least 15 in it. Peppermint oil has a nice feel and keeps the lips looking luscious.

Some Protective measures:

Healthy skin is young looking skin. There are preventative techniques that can promote the best skin possible and keep it looking its best longer.

Avoid over exposure to the sun. Sun damage leads to hyper pigmentation (brown spots) which can develop into serious skin disease. Excessive exposure can also exaggerate and thicken fine lines. Use an SPF 15 or higher on all exposed skin, especially on the face.

Staying in shape should be high on your list. Exercise promotes capillary functioning which can decrease premature aging. It also increases oxygen to the tissues which keeps skin looking young.

Eating right is also very important as, what you eat will eventually show off on your skin too. Keep vitamins such as C and E in your diet regimen. Drink at least 2 liters of water throughout the day. This will flush out the toxins and keep the skin cool. Vitamin C, E, B and zinc are important components of a healthy skin. Make sure that you include these in your daily diet.

Everything in moderation. Too much of anything is never a good idea. Stay away from excessive alcohol, smoking, fatigue and stress. Not only can these factors lead to premature aging; they also decrease facial circulation making you look older.

Men are also entitled to have beautiful skin. Taking proper daily care the skin and sticking to healthy habits will ensure that.

Liver Spot Treatment through Home Remedies

Liver spots are pigmentation kind of brown spots, which start appearing on the skin as the age grows. They can be light to dark brown depending on the severity of the problem. These patches usually appear on the backside of the hands, forehead and cheeks the same way freckles appear. The cause is the melanin production in the body and unprotected exposure to the sun.

They have no link or relation with liver in the body. People whose melanin production is not sufficient in the body get more affected with the ultraviolet rays of the sun. They make the skin patchy and uneven in tone, which splits the skin color of a specific area of the body, and such brown spots occur. Excess sun exposure on skin without any protection on the skin is also a known cause of it. People with fair skin have lesser production of melanin have higher chances of getting these scars on the skin.

Always apply sunscreen protection in form of sunscreen lotion with at least SPF 30 to protect the skin from sun damage. When you are facing direct sun for a long time, apply after sun mask on the skin to reduce the chances of getting freckles or liver spots.

If the scars are really bad and increasing with time then seeing a dermatologist is not a bad option. Apply whatever lotions are given to you by the skin specialist and always make sure that you apply sunscreen lotion on the skin when you move out in the sun and reapply it when you are staying in the sun for longer time, as sunscreen lotions need to be applied frequently on the skin. Sunscreen lotions take time to set on the skin so apply them at least 20 minutes before you leave the house. For better protection, always carry an umbrella and wear glasses on the eyes. If you put sunscreen lotion on the effected area regularly you have strong chances of the diminishing of these scars.

Home Remedies for Fungal Rashes

Fungal rashes are very common skin disease. One gets them easily with sweat and perspiration, moister left on the skin and some unhygienic habits. They usually cause itching and if bad then burning sensation. They require some specific treatments for them. Normal antibiotic or antiseptic creams cannot cure the fungal infection. These rashes are red or brown in color and if you itch them badly then they start bleeding too.

Common skin rashes are known as ringworm or tinea corpora, athlete foot (rashes between the toes) and rashes around the undergarment. But such red bumps known as rashes can appear anywhere on the skin. The common rashes appear as small scaly patches on the skin not caused by infection, patches caused by fungus or bacteria's and itchy red bumps covering a big area of the skin. Rashes are not safe and experimenting with them can cause you more problems so don't apply anything without a doctor's prescription. Because all skin allergies are different and they require different treatments for them which only a skin specialist or dermatologist can identify.

  • Rashes, which are not caused by any bacterial infection, are the most common one. This skin problem is mostly hereditary skin problem, which comes through genes and mostly starts showing its signs in childhood. It begins in kids with chapped red cheeks, scaly patches on the scalp and other body parts such as arms, legs and stomach. Adults usually get it on hands, around eyelids, genitals or if the situation is worse then on the entire body. It creates inflammation on the skin. These rashes mostly are very itchy and inflames, cause redness and swelling on the affected area. These rashes, which are not caused by infection, keeps coming and going for no specific reason. For kids its worse in the winters. These rashes are not contagious so they do not infect others by a touch or so. But people who suffer from such skin rashes usually have allergies with a certain type of food, eatable colors, soaps, perfumes and shampoos which they have to identify with the usage of such stuff.

  • Some rashes are produced by bacterial infection as fungus. They too are very common but don't affect the skin as frequently as eczema or rashes without fungal infection. These fungal infections are not caused by hygiene. People who are extremely hygiene conscious too get such skin rashes. Many people think that these rashes are caused by their pets, or in the gym, shower, swimming pool or spa but these things are not the cause.

  • Bacterial infections target kids more frequently than adults. They too are not caused by unhygienic habits but they appear for no little reason known to us. Oral medication is required with external creams and lotions and a check up with a dermatologist a must.

  • Viral or allergic rashes are better known as herpes and chicken pox. Patients who get such rashes might not have all the other viral symptoms like cough, sneezing and stomach upset. Rashes caused by viral or allergy last at least for a week or so and go back on their own after there time.

  • Rashes which appear due to food allergy or due to some drugs side affects start appearing on the skin within 2 weeks of the intake of the food or drug as some new medicine. Some of such drugs give rashes when taken for the first time by the patient. There is hardly any remedy to stop such rashes as no medicine has it written on the prescription that it might save the skin rashes. Doctors can just ask to stop the consumption if the medicine. These rashes can turn into allergy if they persist even after the stop of the consumption of the medicine.

  • Hives are red itchy rashes, which come and go on the various parts of the body. Such rashes are not allergic they disappear naturally from the skin with a normal medication meant for them.
Remedies for the rashes: most of the rashes do not affect the skin so seriously. Chicken pox and herpes are some of the dangerous rashes. Other rashes do not have a very long life and go back on their own after a while. For red rashes, which give no itching, or swelling on the skin can be cured by the application of a gentle moisturizer. Other rashes do need medical care as anti- itching creams, which contain menthol, pramoxine or camphor. Anti -allergic lotions can be applied on the affected area. Wash the affected area with antiseptic lotion. Always pat the skin dry. Soak the foot in warm water and put one spoon of white vinegar to the water. Soak feet for 20-30 minutes twice a day to get rid of the fungal infection from the feet.
If the rashes keep on spreading on the body then don't ignore them and seek medical advice. Though all the rashes are somewhere same but still they all need different medication. So always apply medicines, which are prescribed by a dermatologist or skin specialist.
