Skin abscess is a skin disease where pus gets stored in any part of the body, caused by an infection. It usually occurs in armpits, genital areas and on buttocks. In medical terms when the white blood cells of the body, which are meant to defense against some type of infections, enter through the blood vessels into the area of infection and collect the damaged tissues, this situation takes place in the body.
This process forms the pus, which is an accumulation of fluid, living and dead white blood cells, dead tissue, and bacteria or other foreign materials. Abscess is a disease, which can affect many parts of the body not only the skin. It can affect almost every part of the body; this disease can affect most of the major organs of the body. The only difference is this that abscesses in the skin is very obvious and quite visible. The skin looks red and raised and it's very painful whereas it cannot be visible in the other parts of the body. But it can damage the other body parts, which is very painful. It can affect brain, liver, tooth, gums and spinal cord.
Skin abscess can occur after a minor cut, wound or injury or as a complicated boil. It can affect people of all age groups. It can interfere the major deep body tissues or organs to function properly. From one minor wound or boil it can spread to the entire body. If it enters into the bloodstream than it can create many problems and complications in the body to tackle easily.

Treatment:
Doctor needs to cut and clean the abscess area. Cleaning the pus might reduce the chance of infection. The ultimate goal of the treatment is to cure the skin abscess. Doctors give specific medication in forms of antibiotics and regular cleaning of the affected skin. Heat packs in various ways help in reducing the swelling and pain of the affected area. One can prevent from this problem by proper cleaning of it. Using antibiotic lotions and medicated soaps is quite helpful.
