Skin Abscess Symptoms and Treatment

Skin abscess is a skin disease where pus gets stored in any part of the body, caused by an infection. It usually occurs in armpits, genital areas and on buttocks. In medical terms when the white blood cells of the body, which are meant to defense against some type of infections, enter through the blood vessels into the area of infection and collect the damaged tissues, this situation takes place in the body.

This process forms the pus, which is an accumulation of fluid, living and dead white blood cells, dead tissue, and bacteria or other foreign materials. Doctor needs to cut and clean the abscess area. Cleaning the pus might reduce the chance of infection. The ultimate goal of the treatment is to cure the skin abscess. Doctors give specific medication in forms of antibiotics and regular cleaning of the affected skin. Heat packs in various ways help in reducing the swelling and pain of the affected area. One can prevent from this problem by proper cleaning of it. Using antibiotic lotions and medicated soaps is quite helpful.
